Stage Layout

Tried my hand at painting the first layout project of the year. Tried to keep it subtle with a limited palette and I'm happy with how it came out considering.

Done

Well, it's finished and I think I'm sick to the teeth of it but here it is in full, regardless.

Last page of the book, still not finished though.

Final page of the book. Not sure if I'm completely happy with it though, I don't think it sits well with the other drawing so far.

Double Page

Nearly there, just 3 pages left.

I felt that the latest 3 had a slightly different look to the earlier pages posted. So those original ones have been changed to match and add a bit of visual cohesion.

This is one of the the last vignette style drawings for the book. Still to go are two large two page spreads for variety.

I liked the design of the first so I'm going to stick with it. So here's the latest page.

First Look

Here's my first tester for the book. Was messing with the design of the mother and decided to go all the way with it to try and get a feel for the general look of the entire thing.

Pickle Debacle!

To keep myself occupied for the next few days I decided to illustrate a childrens picture book. This is the rhyme I wrote to go along with it and hopefully in a few days I'll post up some pictures too.

The Pickle Debacle

Every two lines of the rhyme will their own illustration, give or take one or two.

Final Layout of the Year

Final layout of the year, done in a horrible rush the night before the due date. I definitly would have benifited with more time but it turned out alright considering.

Collages

A recent assignment in college was to make a collage of a storyboard. What started as a frustrating project, by the end had really grown on me and I feel I got some good results. The learning curve throughout is visible in the pictures as I made them too.

Definitly something to take advantage of in the future.

I'm only in the bleedin' local!

I managed to get an article written about myself in the local paper, the liffey champion for my film script award. Chuffed to bits to get into it and it was a great article but unfortunately the wrong photo was placed beside it. The photo was of another winner standing with the mayor of Dublin, which I can't help but laugh at considering you'd think they'd question why someone from the Irish film board would have on a mayors chain.

Fortunately I managed to get the actual photo off Jack Horgan-Jones of oxygen.ie.

Here's me with Louise Ryan from the Irish film board who presented me with my award.

Film Script of the Year

Well, I figure I'll put the script up here, although I may take it back down as I'm not sure if it's considered a good idea to put scripts up online.

'Gospel' script by Mark Fisher

First entry

I suppose this is as good a place as any to start. Last night I was the proud recipient of the film script of the year at the 2009 smedia awards for my script 'Gospel'.

I was blown away to recieve the award and was ecstatic when I heard my name called, so much so that I managed to drop my award when I recieved it. I also gave a poignant speech that no one heard cause I was an inch too far from the microphone. Oh well, brilliant night all the same.
